Word Pictures

After waking up for the second day in a row feeling terribly sick (it seems Abby felt she needed to share what she had with Mama), and having spent this day either in bed or looking at a computer screen doing homework, I thought the best thing for tonight's post would be to simply share some pictures of the day with you.

One problem with that....I didn't take any pictures.

So, I'm going to tell you about the pictures I wish I would have gotten.

  1. Sleepy Ballerina: During one of my more lucid moments this morning, as I lay in bed trying to sleep off my sour tummy, Abby came romping in for a chat. She climbed up into bed with me and I noticed that all she was wearing was her fluffy pink tutu and a smile. She quickly covered herself with the blankets, grabbed one of the pillows I'd been using, and laid down. After a quick, "Hi, Mom!" she closed her eyes and started to pretend snore. It seems all the fun she'd been having with Dad had tuckered her out. It didn't last long, soon enough she was up and scampering back out the door, but not before giving me some kisses to feel better and telling me, "Night, night, Mama."
  2. High-Stepping Ninja: While I was working on homework Abby found a lovely piece of cardboard that was ripe for being turned into a sword. Since I couldn't help her out, Dad stepped in, and made a lovely ninja type sword by simply adding some saran wrap and electrical tape. I turned to find her in front of the mirror checking out some of her sweet moves. She certainly could give Mulan a run for her money. She kept swinging that around - fighting imagined foes until she propped it on her shoulder and began a high-stepping march across the living room that would make any military leader proud.
  3. Pool Buddy: As a reward for good behavior while both Mom and Dad worked on school projects, we took Abby out for a nice long swim in the pool. Jason took the first shift and about an hour later I came out to relieve him. As soon as I sat down she wanted to know why I wouldn't join her. It seems that she was getting a bit lonely swimming there all alone. Before long Jason and Bruiser came out, to help get her in the house. With a twinkle in his eye, Jason looked at me and said, "What do you think Bruiser would do if I put him in the pool?" With that Bruiser was in and Abby was thrilled. Abby loved having him in there and as Jason went to get a bucket (better to douse the dog with) Bruiser saw his opportunity and got himself out of there. None of us could persuade him to get back in, so we pulled Abby out (literally) and headed out for some pizza.
I'm sure the pictures I described would have been much cuter, but hopefully these helped you get a few visuals of our day. Although I didn't take any pictures, Jason did so here is one of her enjoying splashing in her pool - happy as a clam.

  1. I love the "would be" pictures, and love the idea of this post. So many times I've wished I could have caught a particular moment, but now I'm motivated to just tell about it. :-) Sorry you were so sick, though. Yuck.
